Dawn Lippert

Co-founder & Director

“Systems are actually all connected… there is no real separation between our water system, food system, energy system, and the build infrastructure that we’ve created, or the communities that exist in these places.”
LinkedIn

As co-founder and Director of Energy Excelerator, Dawn oversees the strategic direction of the program and execution of its mission, helping solve the world’s biggest energy challenges starting in Hawaii. She leads the charge in both the Energy Excelerator program as well as in Hawaii’s path towards the 2045 goal of 100% renewable energy.

In addition to leading EEx…

Dawn is embedded in Hawaii’s energy and startup communities. She is the Chair of the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative (HCEI) Advisory Board, a board of key energy stakeholders that ensures progress toward the State’s renewable energy goals. Dawn founded WiRE (Women in Renewable Energy), and also serves on the boards of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Hawaii, the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) at the University of Hawaii, the YWCA of Oahu, and the Incubatenergy Network (a national network of clean energy organizations organized by the U.S. Department of Energy). Recently, Dawn was awarded a national C3E Award from the Clean Energy Ministerial, and was selected as an Omidyar Fellow by the Hawaii Leadership Forum. She is also a Commissioner on the Governor’s Tax Review Commission for the State of Hawaii.

Prior to Energy Excelerator…

Dawn was a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton’s alternative energy practice in Washington DC. She also worked on energy and environmental projects in various communities around the world, including Africa, India, and Latin America.

An energy enthusiast by nature…

Dawn grew up in Washington State, where she first discovered a love for the outdoors. She graduated cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in environmental studies, and went on to receive her Master’s degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Management.

Outside of the office…

You can find her outside – playing pickup soccer, sailing, hiking, surfing, or enjoying the sunset with barbecues and bocce ball.
