About Kunoa Cattle Company
Hawaii imports 90% of its food and exports 80% of its produce. For ranchers, this is due to high energy costs required to preserve aged cattle, shipping constraints on exporting live cattle, and high cost of producing and shipping grains to finish cattle. Kunoa integrates energy, agriculture, water and new management processes to build a large scale, energy-efficient beef production operation – keeping our food local and utilizing clean renewable energy to produce it. Kunoa’s first project will prove that their technology and approach is a scalable solution that will provide benefits to the entire food and energy system by eliminating our reliance on fossil fuels to produce food.
