UtilityAPI’s software gathers and cleans data so it’s easy for new energy companies to complete customer proposals, finance their projects, and manage their customers after installation. Their application programming interface instantly collects utility customer bill and usage data from smart meters then provides it to companies that can use it: solar, energy storage, energy management, and energy analytics companies.
UtilityAPI lowers customer acquisition cost by reducing the time it takes to retrieve customer energy use and billing data. They are working with 3 utilities in California, have over 350 registered users, and are tracking more than 1,600 residential and commercial smart meters. UtilityAPI is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot program and solar incubator Powerhouse.
